Creative Director & Photographer based in Chicago.
I’m Jessica Rundell, a Chicago based Creative Director and Photographer. I create visual work rooted in observation and trust; stories that feel considered, human, and intentional.
My path into creative work began behind the camera, learning how to notice what others might overlook. The way light shifts across a room, how people move when they feel comfortable, the subtle details that quietly tell the real story. Over time, that instinct grew into a broader creative practice spanning photography, video direction, concept development, and narrative driven brand work.
Today, I work with brands and individuals to shape visual stories across lifestyle editorials, personal branding, portraits, and milestone moments, alongside directing video projects from early concept through final delivery. Whether still or motion, my focus remains the same: clarity and craft. Operating at the intersection of brand strategy and creativity, I deploy a blend of strategic thinking, storytelling, and systems-level planning.
I approach every project by listening first. Understanding the intention behind the work (what needs to be said, who it’s for, and how it should land) allows me to create visuals that feel aligned rather than overproduced. I bring a steady, thoughtful presence to the process, blending creative intuition with practical structure so projects move forward with ease.
Collaboration is central to how I work. I value partnerships built on openness and curiosity, and I’m deeply involved from the first conversation through the final handoff. Clients often tell me the experience feels calm, organized, and genuinely enjoyable. Something I consider just as important as the finished work itself.
My visual sensibility draws from editorial, commercial, and documentary influences, balancing natural moments with intentional composition. I stay curious, continuously refining my craft and evolving alongside the industries I work in, while remaining grounded in timeless storytelling principles.
Outside of commissioned work, I’m a world traveler, using photography as a way to understand culture and connection. I’m also a champion of neurodiversity, believing that different ways of seeing and thinking make creative work stronger, more empathetic, and in turn, more interesting.
I’m still early in my career, but growing quickly into larger, more ambitious projects. Guided by genuine curiosity at my core and a desire to make work that feels honest and enduring, I partner with clients who value collaboration and stories that leave a mark long after they’re seen or heard.
When I’m not working, I’m usually close to home. Spending time with my dog, Bambi (who has perfected the art of reminding me to pause), making (and remaking) the perfect cup of coffee, and reading an ungodly number of books. Honestly, usually more than I can keep up with at one time, but who’s counting? These small rituals shape how I see the world and inevitably find their way into my work.
